Environmental Consulting

Our environmental consulting services help clients navigate complex environmental regulations, pursue cleanup and redevelopment, and restore productive use to their property. We have extensive technical and regulatory experience in both site assessment and environmental engineering, lending us a unique capacity to identify environmental issues, provide due diligence, and identify innovative solutions for contaminated sites. We also have extensive experience designing water treatment systems, wastewater and septic systems, and permitting discharges. Those capabilities are described in our civil engineering and water resources services pages.

Butte Montana Superfund

The Silver Bow Creek/Butte Area NPL Site is the headwaters of the largest Federal Superfund complex in the U.S. We have served as technical advisors for over two decades for cleanup of the mining and wood-treatment chemicals which contaminate soil and water.

Powell County Brownfields

This former Milwaukee Railroad Depot located in the heart of a small community was contaminated by fuel and chemical spills and heavy metals. Our staff investigated contaminants, planned environmental cleanup remediation, and provided construction oversight for an expedited contaminant removal where the public was exposed to soils with heavy metal lead contamination.

Pipeline corridor wetland mapping

Our water resource scientists mapped wetlands along the construction corridor for this federally funded water transmission pipeline. We also provided environmental reporting to comply with USDA Rural Development (RD) grant and loan requirements.

Automotive Service Station ESA

Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) are performed for real estate and business transactions to identify existing or potential environmental contamination. The property subject to this real estate sale had been used as an auto repair station for decades. Scott Payne, PhD, RG was contracted by the lending bank to lead an ESA using ASTM methods.
